What is the Best Massage Chair for a Tall Person?

Massage chairs are one size fits most, but what if it doesn’t fit you?   If it can’t accommodate your head or leaves your feet dangling when they should be tucked into the leg rest then it’s not going to be a relaxing massage.  If you are tall there is the possibility that the massage chair you order online won’t be suitable for you.

Many of the top massage chairs are just not designed for those over six foot.  Don’t fret, we have done the research and know the best massage chair for a tall person.

Why is it so hard to find massage chairs for tall people?

The majority of people are under six feet tall (1) so these chairs are intended for that size.  Most manufacturers have not taken into consideration that someone who is taller can’t just squeeze into those chairs.  They don’t think about how uncomfortable it can be.

What is the best massage chair for tall people?

Since there aren’t very many big and tall massage chairs on the market, it was easy to determine the best option - the Luraco iRobotics 7 Plus.  It is comparable to many of the other top massage chairs but is one of the few that can accommodate taller individuals.  The only downside is that it is not cheap.

Luraco iRobotics 7 PLUS Medical Massage Chair

The iRobotics 7 is the only massage chair I have found that can accommodate people that are up to 6’7” and weigh up to 300 pounds.  Just relax and the automatic body shape detection will give you the most advanced 3D robotic full body massage on the market.  It can save the settings for up to five users, so the whole family can take advantage of this chair.

This massage chair can target your neck, upper back, lower back, arms, calves, and feet with five different intensity levels and three levels of heat.  It offers body stretching, an advanced foot massage with double rollers, and an air pressure calf massage.  If needed, it can also monitor your blood pressure and heart rate. The chair uses noise reduction technology to keep the massage quiet and more relaxing.

Everything is easily controlled with a smart handheld touch-screen controller.  It has simple pause and resume buttons to start and stop the massage as needed.  For those that don’t want to deal with buttons it has a seven language (English, Vietnamese, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, and Korean) human-voice command system. This model also has high quality and powerful 10W Bluetooth speakers.

The Luraco iRobotics 7 comes with a five-year manufacturer warranty. This includes three years of labor and five years of parts and structural framework.

Other Home Massage Alternatives for Tall People

The lack of selection of massage chairs for tall men and women is disappointing.  If you have a tight budget it may not be within your reach and there aren’t any chairs (that I have found) that work for someone taller than 6’7”.  If you are not happy with the massage recliners for those that are tall there are some other possible solutions.

If You Need a Full Body Massage

You probably wanted a massage chair because you wanted to be able to get a full body massage at home.  A more affordable full body massage option is a massage mat.

Massage Mat

With a massage mat, you can get a full body massage anywhere.  It's flexible so that you can use it on a chair, bed, couch, recliner, or the floor.  It’s not as sophisticated as some of the luxury massage chairs today but it could be more comfortable if you are tall.  It uses heat and vibration to relieve stress, aches, tension, and eliminate fatigue.

If You Want a Back Massage

Maybe you were thinking about getting a massage chair but only genuinely need to massage your back.  If that is the case, you may be better off using either a back massager pad or handheld massager.

Back Massager Chair Pad

A back massager chair pad can be placed on any chair, then you sit down, turn it on, and breathe.  The Comfier neck and back massager utilizes innovative 2D/3D Finger Pressure Shiatsu, Rolling, Air Compression, Vibration and Heat functions to give a comfortable massage that will soothe muscles and ease tension.

This massager comes with a 24 month warranty for any quality related issues and can also be returned for any reason within 30 days.

Handheld Massager

A handheld massager can make it easy to target those hard to reach spots like the back.  Some have a heat feature that will relieve muscle knots as well as deep tissue massage that can rid your body of pain.  They are versatile and can be used on other parts of the body as well.  Many are also cordless so it’s easy to take them wherever you go.

We like the Mighty Bliss massager.  It is portable, lightweight, and comes with various heads for different massage needs.  Simply change the heads to switch from a Shiatsu to a sports massage.

If You Want a Lower Body Massage

You may be able to get a better lower body massage from a targeted foot and calf massager than a massage chair.  Just note that not all of these massagers fit everyone, check the details before buying.

Calf and Foot Massager

If you want to focus on relieving tension in your calves and feet, this Cloud Massage Foot  Massager is probably your best option. The massager also uses rolling ball massagers to combine a high-pressure massage with the heat.

We like how adjustable this massager is. We have been primarily using it to massage out calves, but with a simple adjustment, the massager is perfectly suited for your feet too.  Note that while it works for big fit and long calves, if you have wide calves they won’t fit comfortably.

Conclusion

While there may not be many massager chairs for tall people, there is one good option in the Luraco iRobotics 7 Plus.  It is an investment though, but the benefits of a full body massage could be worth it.  Alternatively, you could use another type of massager like a massage mat, back massager chair pad, handheld massager, and/or calf massager depending on the areas that you want to target.

In the long run, buying a massager to use at home will save money as those professional massages add up fast.
